Sarah was a HR executive and worked in London
Sarah came for preconceptual dietary advice. She knew that infertility was a problem within her family and whilst she tried to ensure her diet was healthy, she wanted some reassurance that she was giving herself the best chance possible to conceive. We started with a hair mineral analysis which gives a useful indicator to an individual´s nutrient status, hormonal levels and stress levels. This revealed that Sarah was suffering with relatively high stress levels which were affecting her adrenal glands and that she had toxic levels of some heavy metals which can also affect fertility. The adrenal glands produce stress hormones that help the body deal with stress. If these hormones are out of balance, tiredness and hormonal imbalance can result. The hormones correct themselves when the stressors are removed.
We looked at dietary stressors and how they could be contributing; stimulants such as tea and coffee, potential allergens, e.g. wheat and vitamin robbers such as alcohol and junk food. Increasing relaxation exercises such as yoga and deep breathing were also recommended. Four months later the results were spectacular, Sarah had improved her mineral status was feeling back in control of her life and more relaxed and was expecting her first child.
Peter was an Auditor and lived in Stevenage
Peter had been suffering from depression and fatigue for nearly 5 years, he also had IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), muscular aches and pains and his glands were constantly up and down. He had been off work as a result of his depression for some time.
Peter was anxious about making changes to his diet that he could sustain when he returned to work as he worked as an auditor in pubs which made it difficult to eat healthily. Peter´s diet was poor, high in sugar, additives, saturated fat and wheat and he was likely to be deficient in many nutrients. We started by focusing on dietary changes which he could sustain and then through supplementation improved his digestive flora and essential fatty acid status.
Within 2 months Peter was back at work and feeling fit and healthy. His IBS was no longer a problem and he had more energy then ever. Peter continues to fit a healthier diet into a busy lifestyle, his immune system is much stronger and he no longer suffers from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) in the winter months.
Leanne is a Hairdresser and lived in Bedfordshire
Leanne had been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, she was underweight and was suffering from bad skin. Following her diagnoses she was unsure of how she could improve her diet to improve her chances of long term health and she was also lacking confidence cooking as she had recently moved out of home. At our first consultation we focused on increasing foods in her diet that could improve her digestive health, she was also advised to avoid certain foods and drinks which can act as irritants.
At her first follow up consultation there were definite signs of improvement with less diarrhoea, less abdominal cramping (as a result of Crohn's), clearer skin, fewer mood swings and fewer cravings for sweet/starchy foods.
Leanne continues to follow a healthier diet has gained over a stone in weight and is feeling much better as a result.
Fantastic advice that has helped me make permanent changes to my diet and health. |
